The library at Arnold Magnet Academy strives to be a place that is welcoming and friendly to all students.  This technology-rich environment hosts a full size computer lab of 28 student stations, and is open to individual students and classes alike.  Our 13,000+ collection of books is sure to entice all types of readers, with many of the books having matching Accelerated Reader (AR) test.

Our Media Center's Policies are as follows:

  • Students must have their ID's to check materials out of the library.

  • Students may have up to three books/magazines checked out at a time.

  • The loan period for books/magazines is two weeks and the due date is stamped in the back of the book.

  • There is no monetary penalty for overdue books, but students must check out "Loaner Books" if they have a book that is overdue.

  • Students are responsible for the cost of all books checked out in their name.

  • Students are allowed to print two pages in the library each day as long as the material pertains to school research or projects.

  • The library is open to 30 students at 8:00 AM each day for students to use the computer, do homework, or read quietly.

  • The library closes each day at 4:00 PM.

Students may donate books to the library for RAC points.  The donated books must be an AR book, hardback, and in very good condition.  The Media Specialist reserves the right to refuse books that are unacceptable or not needed.  Students can earn 5 RAC points for each accepted book.

Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl

Congratulations to the members of the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl team.  They did a great job at competition on February 2nd.  We hope to have all these wonderful students back again next year so we can be even stronger.

Renaissance Place for Arnold Magnet
All RenLearn products are now accessible from one place.  This includes Star Reading, Star Math, and  Accelerated Reader (AR).  Parents may request guardian access.  Parents fill out the requested information and Mrs. Mobley will get back with you as soon as a login is created for you.

ID Badges
Each student is given their ID badge during homeroom and is to wear throughout the school day.  At the end of the school day, the student is to turn their ID badge into their last academic class teacher.  If a student loses his/her ID badge there is a $5 replacement fee.  If a student loses/damages his/her Badge holder there is a $1 replacement fee.  If a student loses/damages his/her green lanyard there is a $1 replacement fee.  Students need to wear these at all times during the school day for safety.  They must be visible.  If a student is not wearing his/her ID badge or loses it, discipline action will be taken.  Please encourage the students to take care of these as they are used in the media center, the cafeteria, in the computer lab, and even in the classrooms daily.
